Community Involvement
MMC insists on high ethical standards and, as a matter of policy, the company acts in a responsible and considerate manner towards the environment and the community in which it operates. The company is committed to investing time, money and expertise in projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life of its employees and their communities. The company believes that uplifting the disadvantaged communities surrounding its plants is an investment in the future of not only the company and such communities but also of the country as a whole. Investments are aimed at sustainable job creation and the improvement of education and skills training, particularly in the field of science.
We know that we are successful in meeting our social responsibilities when the community in which we operate, values our corporate citizenship. In recent years MMC has initiated and/or participated in various job creation projects and sponsorships for local community events, including a bakery constructed in Daantjie, a soccer stadium in Kamagugu, a hydroponics job creation project to cultivate red and yellow peppers, a new mobile clinic for the South African National Blood Service and the annual sponsorship of the Jock Marathon.
